Editorial Paragraphs.
The delay in issuing this number has been caused by the absence of the Secretary, and other causes over which we have had no control, and we are sure that our friends will excuse us.
The frequent absence of the Secretary from our office, in the discharge of important duties in the interests of the Society, must excuse delays in answering letters, &c. We assure our friends that we are doing our best to serve them, and are quite confident that they will exercise towards us the same kind forbearance in the future which they have shown in the past. We are vigorously prosecuting the work of permanent endowment, and the realization of our hopes in this respect will enable us to employ such clerical help as is absolutely necessary to a proper conduct of the affairs of the Society. Meantime, our friends will bear with us, and impatient correspondents who want us to answer by return mail questions in which we have no earthly interest, and the answer to which would require hours of unrequited labor, must simply wait our convenience as best they can.
