Lanman, James Henry 1812-1887

Author; born in Norwich, Conn., Dec. 4, 1812; became a lawyer and after several years' practice in Norwich and New London, Conn., and Baltimore, Md., he settled in New York City and engaged in literary work. Later he became interested in the State of Michigan. His publications include History of Michigan, Civil and topographical, which was afterwards published under the title of History of Michigan from its earliest Colonization to the present time, etc. He died in Middletown, Conn., Jan. 10, 1887.
