Morrill, lot Myrick 1813-1883

Financier; born in Belgrade, Me., May 3, 1813; admitted to the bar of Maine in 1839; elected to the State legislature in 1854; president of the [291] State Senate in 1856; elected governor in 1857; and was United States Senator from 1860 until his appointment as Secretary of the Treasury in 1876. He died in Augusta, Me., Jan. 10, 1883.
