Stedman, Charles 1745-1812

Military officer; born in England about 1745; joined the British army and served against the colonists in the American Revolution; took part in the battle of Lexington, and afterwards served under Howe in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and then with Cornwallis in the South. He was the author of The history of the origin, progress, and termination of the American War. He died in London, England, June 26, 1812.
