Historian; born in Virginia, in 1689; studied theology and
was ordained in the Church of England; was president of William and Mary College in 1752-53.
He was the author of a History of Virginia from the first settlement to the dissolution of the London Company, etc. He died in Williamsburg, Va., Sept. 27, 1755.
