Medal of honor Legion,

An organization of officers and enlisted men of the Union army who, during the Civil War, were awarded medals of honor for special acts of bravery and devotion under an act of Congress of 1862. Up to 1901, 1,500 of these medals had been awarded to veterans of the army, and 600 to naval veterans, of which 69 were on account of the war with Spain.
