(Polishing.) A wheel of wood or of other material, covered with leather, and used in polishing metals, glass, etc. The surface is plied with material of coarse or fine quality, according to the character and condition of the work, one buffwheel always having its own grade of polishing-powder, be it emery, rotten-stone, tripoli, crocus, rouge, putty-powder, etc.
