--Brevet Brigadier Gen. Clark, Commander of the Department of California, died in San Francisco on the 17th ult., of chronic diarrhŒa, after an illness of two week. He has served in the U. S. Army since 1812, was through the war in Mexico, and was promoted to the distinguished position occupied at the time of his death for meritorious conduct at the siege of Vera Cruz.
