Singular case.

--On Saturday night last, a young lady residing on Church Hill was retiring to her apartment, and on reaching the top of the steps, encountered what is termed an "apparition"--in other words, thought she saw a ghost. Her fright found utterance in a fearful shriek, which attracted the attention of her friends, who hastened to the spot and discovered her in a swoon. She was restored to consciousness with great difficulty, and has not yet fully recovered from the shock. The circumstance shows to what an extent the imagination may influence the mind.
