Roman Catholic Religious services.

--For the last two weeks a band of Redemptorist brothers, consisting of Messrs. Smulders, Wissel, Jacobs and Duffy, have been holding a mission, or what Protestants would style a revival, at St. Peter's Cathedral, and it has been highly successful. Some idea as to the labors of these missionaries may be formed when the order of exercises is stated. They are at work from five in the morning till ten and eleven at night. At the first named hour a regular discourse is preached, and the pulpit occupied at eight for instructions concerning the Catholic faith, and at 7 P. M. a third discourse. In the meantime, however, the confessional is regularly attended by the members of the mission. The deepest interest has been awakened in the mission, and the church is crowded by large and serious congregations, anxious to have the Word preached and to witness the exercises. Some of the discourses preached were remarkable for fervency, earnestness and eloquence. On Sunday morning last two hundred and eighty-nine persons were confirmed. There were about two thousand communicants, which is double the number that communed when the Redemptorist brothers last visited this city, about three years ago. The services closed on Sunday night last.
