Mr. Platt's Lecture.

The lecture of Mr. Platt, on Friday night last, was the first in the present season of the Young Men's Christian Association, and was listened to with evident pleasure by a highly intelligent and appreciative audience. It was a most scholar-like and elegant production, abounding with interest and instruction, adorned with forcible and happy illustrations, and sparkling with gems of fancy and eloquence. The manner of the speaker was graceful and impressive, and the whole performance one which reflected high credit upon himself, and entitles the Young Men's Christian Association to the thanks of the community for affording the public mind, so vexed with exciting and exhausting political topics, a refreshing feast of intellect and reason.
