Heavy failure, &c.

New York, Jan. 29.
--The steamship Quaker City, from Havana on the 20th, reports the failure of the Steamship Company for $2,500,000, the consequence of fraudulent certificates of sugar in warehouses.

Key West and the fortifications at Tortugas, were in good condition for defence.

It was rumored that a force from New Orleans had chartered a steamer for the purpose of attacking them, and many persons were leaving Key West in consequence.
