Who's there?

--On Saturday morning last, about 3 o'clock, a gentleman was passing along Grace street, above Adams, when he espied a white man in the act of climbing over a wall. Believing that his purpose was robbery, the gentleman shouted ‘"who's there?"’ The individual dropped from the wall and moved off hastily, when he was hailed again. He made no answer, but accelerated his pace considerably. The gentleman had, by this time, got his blood up, and with a determination to "investigate" the matter thoroughly, drew his pistol and sent a bullet after the retreating object, who now ran like a quarter horse, and was soon out of sight. In fact, he "seceded" with such precipitancy that he doubtless escaped injury, which ought to reconcile him to the loss of a night's work.
