--The total funded debt of Philadelphia is $20,962,408, as near as can be ascertained.
During the past year the sum of $964,000 has been added to this debt.
The deficit in the finances of the city is $360,000. The revenue provided by the last tax rate was not sufficient for the expenses of the city.
