John M. Daniel, Esq., late Minister of the United States to Sardinia, resumed his connection, yesterday, with the journal in this city formerly edited by him, the Richmond Examiner. 'We welcome, with great pleasure, the return of Mr. Daniel to a profession in which he attained, in a brief period, a reputation unsurpassed by that of any American journalist. His residence abroad must have afforded him rare opportunities of observation and study which, it cannot be doubted, he has turned to the best account.--His brilliant powers and trenchant wit will and a worthy arena for their exercise in the struggle now convulsing the public mind.--The cause of Virginia and the South has no champion in all their borders who wields a keener or a brighter blade, or who sends it home with a more vigorous hand.
