Virginia manufacturing goods for the South.

A good deal has been said about Virginia manufacturing goods for her Southern sisters; but as evidence that she does not do so to the extent that she might and could do, were she allowed the opportunity, may be mentioned the fact that a few days since a New York packet landed at our wharves, for shipment to Texas, a large number of common wagons, which had been made in the Empire city for parties in the Lone Star State. We have hundreds of unemployed mechanics, and these wagons could have been made here as well as in New York. Independent of this, a few days ago one of the New York steamer's landed a lot of gun-carriages and other warlike appliances consigned to the State of Virginia. First help yourself, then other people (seeing you don't want their aid) will help you.--"Sich is life."
