--There are five cannel coal factories in Kanawha county, Virginia, which together make 5,000 gallons of crude oil daily. There are at present in the same county eleven salt furnaces in operation, making in the aggregate 1,500,000 bushels of salt per annum. Among the pork packers of Cincinnati, the Kanawha salt is preferred to any other salt.
