Aid the volunteers.

--The suggestion thrown out in this paper on Saturday, that gentlemen of means should be ready to aid the soldiers pecuniarily, was received with evident approval, and we are encouraged to renew our appeal. Numbers of brave men now await marching orders, and in no instance have we observed any backwardness in responding to the Governor's call. Many of them are poor, and their families must be provided for during their absence. One well-known citizen informed us on Saturday that he would cheerfully give a hundred or two hundred dollars, and we feel assured that many will be glad to join him in a cause so benevolent and patriotic They can easily devise a plan for the carrying out of the object, and the man who takes the lead will be cheered by the ‘"God speed"’ of a grateful community. Let the work commence immediately.
