Capt. Thos. T. Hunter, late of the U. S. Navy, a native of Virginia, who has been in the service for thirty-three years, has resigned his commission in that service and placed himself at the disposal of his native State. Capt. Hunter, though for the last year employed on service in the waters of South Carolina, has always been a national man up to the period of Virginia's secession, when, recognizing at once his supreme duty to his native Commonwealth, he resigned his commission and returned to this native State, to offer himself to her service. Virginia has reason to be proud of such sons.
