Meeting of the Medical Fraternity.
--An important meeting of the physicians of
Richmond was held at the City Hall on Thursday, the 2d inst., which was attended by a large number of them.
On motion,
Dr. John Dove was called to the Chair, and
Dr. Wm. W. Parker appointed
Secretary.
The
Chairman stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of devising some plan for the establishment of a "Dispensary," to supply medicine and medical attendance to the families of volunteers who might be called into the service of their country.
Dr. Bolton thought it best to select one or two apothecaries for this purpose, rather than establish a Dispensary — that, at present, it would be difficult to get the services of competent apothecaries at the Dispensary, and besides, the expense incurred would probably be greater.
After discussing the two propositions, it was
Resolved, That a committee of three be appointed to draft a plan for providing the families of volunteers, and others needing assistance, with medicine and medical attendance, and that said plan be presented to the consideration of the Common Council of the city of
Richmond.
Committee —
Drs.
Bolton,
Parker and
Trent.
On motion, the meeting adjourned.
