--The Northern newspapers publish the following incident in the experience of Senator Bayard in Philadelphia, which they consider a ‘"good thing:"’
As Senator Bayard passed into the Mayor's office, his hat struck against a rope with a noose in it, suspended over the door and labelled ‘"Death to traitors,"’ which had been removed by the police from one of the street lamp-posts.
