Ought not to be permitted.

--The newspapers in some sections of the State report the passage of large droves of cattle and hogs enroute for Baltimore. While no objection could be had to their being carried there if they were to be used by the Baltimoreans, the matter assumes a different shape when we consider that such stock finds its way to Washington, and is used to nourish and sustain our enemies. The Governor should order a stop to be put to the practice at once: we may want fat cattle ourselves. It certainly can do no harm to be well provided against a rainy day.
