--Portions of the Atlantic cable recovered show not the slightest symptom of decay or deterioration in the gutta percha. It has been subjected to severe electrical tests, and, on comparison with the tests of the cable as it left the gutta percha works three years ago, it is found that there has been an actual improvement in its condition since it was laid down.
