Books for the soldiers.

--Messrs. West and Johnston, booksellers, at 145 Main street, have just issued Southern editions of the invaluable work of Col. Wm. S. Hardee on Tactics, and the Volunteer's hand book, a valuable treatise on the same subject. These are books suitable to the times. Had the latter been peaceful, it is more than likely that they would have been printed at the North; being otherwise, and the war having taught our Southern publishers to rely on themselves, the printing was done, and very well done too, in Memphis, Tenn., and Raleigh.
