Let off.

--Jacob S. Tyler, who has been under arrest for several days past for having in his possession a silver time-piece, of which it was proved Mr. Wm. G. Allen had been despoiled, after being knocked down on the street by ruffians, was before the Mayor yesterday again, and after being subjected to a brief examination was discharged. Tyler in reply to a question of the Mayor, said he had obtained the watch from Miles Talley. Possibly the Mayor may intend to have Talley up about the affair, and if so, he may use Tyler as a witness against him. Should Tyler prove communicative and open on Miles to the extent of a serious complication in the knock down and stealing business, an ex-Mexican Volunteer will be put immediately in an unpleasing attitude before his ‘"fellow citizens."’
