On Saturday night last the immense chair factory of Mr. John Mitchell, at Cincinnati, was destroyed by fire. The falling walls of the building crushed an adjoining building.--The total loss is $60,000.

Governor Ellis, of North Carolina, has issued his proclamation, setting apart Thursday, the 29th day of November, as a day of Thanksgiving and Prayer.

Capt. George B. Sumwalt, an old citizen of Baltimore, and former chief of the night police, died on the 6th inst.

John W. Wallace, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, was killed in a duel at Nashville, a few days since.
