Death of an officer.

--Com. Charles T. Platt, aged 65 years, died suddenly at Newburg, N. Y., on the 12th inst. The deceased was an officer in the United States Navy, and was wounded at the battle of Lake Champlain. He was also at the battle of Lake Erie. He entered the naval service of his country in the year 1812, and continued in it till the day of his death, a period of nearly 48 years.
