attended by High Constable Butler
, held an inquest on Monday afternoon over the body of B. V. Pierce
, the circumstances of whose death were narrated in yesterday's paper.
It appeared that he had procured laudanum at two different places, and had swallowed a large quantity.
He was in the habit of using the expression that he was "going mole hunting," and had, on two previous occasions, attempted to commit suicide.
A verdict was rendered that he came to his death by taking laudanum.
