The Palmetto flag.

--As a mark of respect to the late H. W. Conner, Esq., the State flag over the Custom-House was placed this morning at half-mast; but on the announcement of the sloop-of-war Brooklyn being in the offing, and a request made to the Collector, it was promptly run up to the head of the staff, where it now flies.--Charleston News.
