The ladies of Charles city.

The C. C. S. Guards, now on duty on one of the islands of James River, ask a place in this paper to return their thanks to the ladies of Charles City county for the numerous acts of kindness, and to compliment them for the patriotic spirit they have shown in our noble cause. The communication expresses a full appreciation of their kind remembrance, and says:

‘ Yes, generous ladies, we do testify that you have acted well your part, and as the Spartan mothers of old have bid your sons and friends go meet the common enemy of our cherished liberty and drive them back to their Northern homes, we do pledge you that we will act under your holy admonition and by that sacred name of a Washington who fought for the same glorious cause of liberty and freedom of speech; we will drive them back, for we have already the prestige of victory and believe that the God of Battles is for us; and if so, who shall be against us?
