Arrival of Gov. Clarke in Raleigh, N. C.

--The Raleigh Journal, of Saturday last, says:

His Excellency H. T. Clarke, Governor, exofficio, of the State, arrived in this city on Wednesday, and has now fully entered on the duties of his office. We need not repeat what we said in our last issue as to how these duties will be performed, and well we know that there is no doubt in the public mind on that score. But these are trying times, and the Executive and all other public officers need and ought to receive the sympathies and active co- operation of every citizen who has the interests of the public service at heart. These we bespeak for Governor Clarke, not as a matter of form, but because they are indispensable to the successful discharge of his arduous duties.
