From Gen. Wise's Legion — capture of Federalists.

decoyed 600 of Gen. Wise
's Legion out to Barboursville
correspondent of the Cincinnati Gazette
, in a letter dated July 18th, at noon, says that two regiments, with two guns and the Trenton Cavalry
, were ordered to reconnoitre Pope's Creek
On reaching the Creek
they found the Virginians, 1,500 strong, well entrenched with masked batteries and two guns.
The Federal troops fired forty rounds and silenced the batteries, but their ammunition giving out, they retired.
and Lieut Pomerov
of the 21st Ohio Regiment was badly wounded and captured.
, Lieut Col. Neff
(bogus Ky) and Col. De Villiers
, of the 11th Ohio Regiment left Cox
's camp on the 17th inst., and are believed to have been either killed or captured.
