Affairs on the Potomac

--The Fredericksburg Herald of Tuesday evening says:

There is a strict surveillance kept up on the Potomac river; from 5 to 10 vessels, steamers, &c, pass up and down almost every day. There has been no salutation from the enemy for a week. It is most remarkable that notwithstanding solid shot and shell have been fired every week or nearly so, for months past, yet not a solitary man on our side has been killed, and in only one instance was blood drawn by a flesh wound, on the hand, not at all dangerous.
