Melancholy accident.

--On Saturday forenoon a little child, about three years old, while playing near the open window (or door) of the second story of Mr. Schaap's house, on Broad street, between 4th and 5th, fell to the pavement below, striking its head and rendering it insensible instantly. It was immediately taken up and cared for, but soon went into convulsions, which lasted for perhaps an hour, when death came to the relief of the little sufferer. The family of Mr. Schaap were at Church when the accident occurred, and no one was present in the room with the child except two negro girls and another little child. The parents of the child, whose name is Rittershouse, reside on the adjoining square. The child was a beautiful and promising boy.
