--A fire broke out about three o'clock on Sunday morning, in the little frame house on 3d, between Catharine and Baker streets, occupied as a residence by Henry Robertson
, a free negro, and belonging to Dr. William E. Anderson
The steam fire-engine was promptly on the ground, and, though the burning house was too inflammable and too far gone to be saved, and was consequently entirely consumed, succeeded in arresting the further progress of the flames and preserving another small frame house next to the one destroyed — the only one very near the fire.
The fire is supposed to have been the result of accident.
There was no insurance, we understand, upon the property.
This was the second fire on these premises, a house which formerly stood on the same spot having been burned some years ago. It is perhaps worthy of mention that a dog was consumed in the fire of Sunday morning, having taken refuge under the burning porch, and refusing to come out.
