Unhappy Merthand

--The telegrams which we from time to time publish, though mentioning the names of prominent gentlemen who have been arrested give no correct idea of the real states of things in Maryland. Refugees of standing and character, who have escaped into Virginia represent that whole families are sometimes arrested as traitors, that changes of the most atrocious nature are committed upon the persons of ladies of the higher class, and that no one would believe the extent of these crimes against liberty and humanity who has not been a witness to them. The arm of the South must be stretched out for the deliverance of these unfortunate people, and the thunders of our cannon must arouse them to take part in the strife. A fearful account is to be rendered, and the people only await our coming to commence the work.
