Sighting at a long range.

--Rifled cannon has a range beyond the powers of ordinary human vision. A correspondent of the Charleston Mercury suggests to us a simple procures for sighting at long range with the telescope. He proposes that strips of uniforming bands for the sides of a gun, may be coupled with a groove, of tin also, which shall bind the gun. In this groove you may rest the telescope when about to fire. We give the suggestion for what it is worth. So called ‘"telescope sights"’ are no novelty in gunnery.
