Statement for the curious.

We are enabled to present to our readers from an official source, the subjoined statement of the relative number of letters as initials of surnames in the armies of the Southern Confederacy, from March to August, 1861. They are the first thousand names occurring, and comprise all the States, nearly every county, and all ranks and professions.
