Attempt to throw a train off the track.

An attempt was made to throw the express train of the Hudson River Railroad, from Albany on Sunday night off the track near New York. A "sleeper" was laid upon the rails, and secured in such a way that had the locomotive come in contact with it, the train must have been precipitated into the river, and great loss of life have resulted. Providentially the contrivance was discovered in time.--Albany Argus.
