enabled to lay before our readers a the order of General Loring, and to his command the Confederate Greenbrier river:


Army of the Northwest, Sewell Mountain, Oct. 7, 1861.
order No. 11.

commanding has the pleasure to the Army of the Northwest a of the enemy from the fortification Chest Mountain by the division of General Jackson.

attempts of four and one-half our lines in front, and on both a superior force of artillery, longer range, he was repulsed with boss.

commanding tenders his thanks General Jackson, his officers and their gallant conduct in this assures them that they will remembrance of our people.
