An Incident of Gilham's retreat.

We learn that a fatal casualty attended the retreat of Col. Gilham's command from Valley Mountain to E ra. A wagon, containing five sick soldiers belonging to a North Carolina regiment, was swept away while attempting to ford a swollen stream, and all five of the soldiers, together with the driver, were drowned.
