Lar' s contract.

--R. A. Howard, of San Antonio, Texas, has taken a contract to furnish the Confederate Government with 20,000 breves, to be delivered at New Ibina, Louisiana. This will involve an expenditure in Texas of at least half a million of dollars. The San Antonio Gazette says:

‘ "The grass this fall is remarkably fine, and stock of all kinds is consequently in excellent condition. In the production of beeves and stock, no State can compete with Texas; and, should the war continue, our stock raisers will find a ready market for all they have to spare."
