Camp Defiance, having learned that several of my men who were sent from camp to hospital have left their quarters and gone to Richmond without obtaining leave, I hereby order them to report immediately to me at Camp Defiance, or wherever els I may be stationed. In case of non-compliance, an order will be issued for their arrest wherever found within the Confederate States, when they will be deal with as confirmed deserters. I forbear naming them at this time as they may be ignorant of their liability to arrest and punishment. For the information of such as may have friends and relations in Company H. I am glad to make known the excellent-condition of my command.--Notwithstanding the fatigue of this campaign, and the severity of the eliminate, my company enjoy good health, and in common with other companies drawn from Richmond, compare favorably with the hardy mountaineers who have volunteered from this region.
