Swindling the people.

--We are reliably informed that the late rise in the price of wood, purchased from country carts and wagons, is caused by the negro drivers putting on an extra dollar for themselves. In order to stop this robbery of seller and buyer, gentlemen who send wood to town should also furnish a memorandum of the size of the load, and a ticket to be signed by the purchaser. Our attention has been called to this matter by a gentleman engaged in the trade, and living in the country, who is earnest in his denunciation of the rascally practices of the negro drivers.
