Railroad accident.

--A collision occurred last Saturday, about one o'clock, some two or three miles above Bumpas's turnout, on the Virginia Central Railroad. The down freight train, Instead of waiting for the mail train to come. (the latter being somewhat behind time.) proceeded on to a water station, where the endue was detached, leaving the cars on the nain track. The mail train shortly afterwards came around a curve, and run into the freight cars, and the concussion was so powerful as to throw the locomotive off the track.-- J. R. Horton, the engineer, was considerably injured, but the fireman leaped off and was unhurt. The locomotive and two of the cars were much damaged. This is the extent of the casualty so far as we are informed. The until and passenger train due here Saturday afternoon, did not arrive until Sunday morning at 4 o'clock, in consequence of the accident.

The late rains have caused a breach in the e Ridge, but it is hoped that the circumstance will not cause any serious interruption o travel in the direction of Staunton.
