Distressing accident.

--About 10 o'clock yesterday morning, Mrs Hobson, an elderly lady, met with a very painful accident in her apartment at the Carlton House, on 13th street.--While standing near the grate, her clothing ignited, and she was almost instantly enveloped in flames. The ladies present were fearfully alarmed, but could not approach the sufferer without personal danger. It fortunately happened, however, that Mr. P. Kean, one of the boarders, was in the house at the time, and by his exertions the fire was soon extinguished, though his hands were much burst in the effort. Mrs. Hobson's injuries are very severe, yet it is hoped that they will not prove fatal.
