Mr. John Taliaferro, an old and highly respected citizen of Petersburg, died in that a few days since, Mr. T. held an office is the Farmers' Bank of Petersburg from the year 1812 to the day of his death.

Martial law was proclaimed in Knoxville, Times, on Saturday, the 9th inst.
