The Convention.

The Convention was occupied during the larger portion of yesterday's session in discussing Article III of the Constitution, which prescribes the qualification of voters. All the amendments looking to a long term of naturalization were defeated, and the session was really left without material alteration. The battles of Know-Nothingism and Democracy were forcibly brought to mind in this debate, and some little trace or party rancor was visible, though as a general thing, the members kept their temper. The substitution of annual for biannual sessions of the Legislature has been agreed upon; though if the apprehensions of one of the speakers, who hinted that the labors of the Convention would result in the production of the very worst Constitution ever offered to the people, be realized, this and some other minor reforms will be eventually lost.
