Misrepresentations of the enemy.

We are requested by a member of the Washington Artillery, of New Orleans, to contradict the statement, copied from the St. Louis Republican, that the Federals took two pieces belonging to that battalion, in the battle of Belmont. None of their cannon were in the fight; and if the St. Louis writer had told the truth he would have admitted that the battery which fell into the hands of the Federals was subsequently recaptured by our troops.
