Important to Engineers.

--The first conviction for an infraction of the steamboat law occurred last week at Buffalo in the case of Wm. Robinson, Engineer of the propeller Orontes, who was indicted in August last for a violation of the law in overloading the safety-valve of the engine. He was sentenced to pay a fine of $200, and be imprisoned in the penitentiary for four months.
